A man in his fifties has died following a shooting in North Dublin on Sunday evening.

Emergency services were called to a home on the North Circular Road after 8pm.

Here they discovered a male who had sustained suspected gunshot injuries.

Gardaí are investigating all aspects of the shooting.

The body remains at the scene on Monday morning.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau carried out a forensic examination of the scene early this morning.

One theory being examined is that the wounds were self inflicted.

No arrests have been made.
