A MAN has died after being struck by a commuter train, writes Louise Hogan.
Both gardai and the Rail Accident Investigation Unit were probing the circumstances surrounding the incident last night near Bray, Co Wicklow.
The man was fatally injured after he was hit by a southbound DART at Woodbrook, on the Dublin side of Bray, shortly before 7pm.
There were some unconfirmed reports that it may have been an accident. From their initial examination gardai said it appeared to have been a "tragic incident".
Irish Rail said services were suspended between Dalkey and Greystones to let emergency services deal with the situation.
Commuters were transferred between stops by buses and all rail tickets were honoured by Dublin Bus.
