Man critically ill after assault
A man has been left fighting for his life after an early morning assault.
The 30-year-old was found with serious head injuries by a passer-by in the Townparks area of Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.
He was rushed to Sligo General Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The area has been sealed off for a technical examination.
Gardai have appealed for any witnesses or anyone in the area between midnight and 3.30am to come forward.
