Man critical after Dundalk stabbing

A MAN remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital after a stabbing in Dundalk last night.

The man, understood to be in his late fifties, received injuries to his face, neck and arm in the incident which took place on Patrick Street around 6.30pm.

A garda spokesman said it appears the man was attacked by a number of youths who then fled the scene. The man is from just outside Dundalk.

The injured man made his way to a nearby pub and raised the alarm.

Gardai sealed off the scene and are making house to house enquiries.

Gardai have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Patrick street area of Dundalk between 6.20 and 6.40 pm to contact them at Dundalk garda station 042-9388400, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
