Man climbed A&E scaffold

AMBULANCES had to be diverted away from a hospital last night after a man scaled scaffolding near an A&E department.

The drama unfolded at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin shortly after 7pm when the man apparently came out of the A&E and climbed up the scaffolding which straddled 10 floors of a building close to the A&E.

Fire Brigade units and gardai went to the scene. A garda negotiator was also called in.

However, after nearly three hours, the man came down when his father was called to the scene.
