Man arrested over weekend multiple stabbings at 18th birthday party in Dublin
A 44-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested over the stabbing of a teenager celebrating his 18th birthday and his father and three other men at a house party.
A sixth man suffered serious head injured when the fight broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning in Tallaght, west Dublin..
The alarm was raised at about 4.20am on Sunday at an address in Deer Park Avenue.
Gardai said five men - three in their late teens, one in his 20s and one in his 40s - were taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital with suspected stab wounds.
The arrested man was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Tallaght Garda Station.
Men armed with batons and other weapons kicked in the front door of a couple's house at the weekend when a row at an 18th birthday party escalated into a major knife-fight.
Neighbours earlier told the Irish Independent how they didn't dare come out on to the street when they witnessed the incident.
"The screaming and shouting is what woke me up," one neighbour said.
"I heard them all after four o'clock, they were on the street. There seemed to be five or six of them, there were a few lying on the ground injured. I could see across the road, the two doors were open, there were neighbours running," the woman said.
"I just rang the police but they were there two seconds later so half the road must have been ringing them."
Another resident said a house was ransacked and its occupants beaten up.
"They used batons and things like that, that's all I know. They booted in their door and all," the woman added.
She described the couple who were attacked as "hard-working people".
