Man arrested in relation to crash that claimed lives of three women has been released without charge
A man who was arrested earlier today in relation to a crash that claimed the lives of three women has been released without charge.
A file is now being prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The women died on the N2 at Aclint, north of Ardee, on the Louth/Monaghan border in the early hours of the July 21 this year.
The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He was earlier detained at Carrickmacross garda station in county Monaghan.
The crash occurred as they were travelling home from Dublin Airport after a family holiday.
The victims, all from Co Donegal, were Margaret McGonagle (69) Castlereagh, Bruckless, her daughter Mairead Mundy, Ballyloughan, Bruckless, aged in her thirties, and her friend Racheal Cassidy Battles, of Ballyloughan, Bruckless, also aged in her thirties.
They were travelling from Dublin Airport to Donegal in two cars when the accident happened on the N2 near Aclint Bridge, a few kilometres north of Ardee.
The crash involved three cars.
