29 people lost their lives in the Omagh bombing

Police in the North have arrested a man in connection with the 1998 Omagh bombings.

The man was arrested in the Newry area and taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for where he was questioned by detectives.

The 1998 Omagh bombings killed 29 people, including a woman pregnant with twins and injured over 200. It is considered one of the worst atrocities of the Troubles.

The PSNI confirmed the arrest this evening on its official Twitter account.
