Man arrested in connection with Dean Johnson murder investigation
Gardai investigating the murder of Dean Johnson have arrested a 27-year-old man.
The man was arrested in south inner city this afternoon and is being questioned at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Dean Johnson (21) was shot dead in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity on Neilstown Road, Clondalkin, on August 24.
Sources close to the murder investigation believe that Mr Johnson was not the intended target and that he was shot dead by mistake.
Following the murder, a number of searches were carried out by detectives and two men were arrested but they are not believed to be directly involved with Mr Johnson’s murder.
During the searches, which occurred earlier this month in the Blanchardstown, Clondalkin, Cabra and Kilcock areas, a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and cocaine were found by gardai.
