Man arrested after pedestrian decapitated under bus

GARDAI have arrested a man today after a pedestrian was decapitated under the wheels of a double-decker bus.

Stunned commuters and shoppers witnessed the horrific death of the young man in the heart of Dublin city centre during rush hour last night.

He suffered devastating injuries after falling onto the road in the path of a Dublin Bus opposite Trinity College.

Gardai detained a man this afternoon in the inner city and brought him to Pearse Street station for questioning.

The victim, who is in his 20s, has not yet been identified despite extensive inquiries and fingerprints checks with records here and overseas.

“Gardai have arrested a man in his late 20s in relation to the death of a man at Nassau Street/Dawson Street junction yesterday evening 6th December 2012 at approximately 5.45pm,” a garda spokesman said this afternoon.

“The man is detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.”
