Man arrested after armed post office robbery

GARDAI have arrested a 37-year-old man after an armed robbery at a post office in Clondalkin, west Dublin, which occurred shortly after 11am today.

The robbery happened at the premises in the Mill Shopping Centre in Clondalkin village when two masked raiders entered the post office.

Sources say that one of the men is believed to have had a handgun.

It is uncertain whether the raiders escaped with any cash but gardai were on the scene quickly and a 37-year-old man was arrested.

He is currently being detained in Clondalkin Garda Station while a manhunt is underway for his accomplice.

The firearm used in the robbery has not been recovered and sources say hat the arrested suspect is well known to gardai and from the Neilstown area.
