Man airlifted off mountain dies in hospital

A man airlifted off Dublin Mountain with a suspect heart attack has died.

The man, a 56-year-old Irish man, was pronounced dead in Tallaght Hospital this afternoon.

The Irish Coast Guard rescue helicopter was among the emergency services called to the scene near Fairy Castle, south west of Three Rock mountain in the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown area of the county.

Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue also attended the scene after receiving a call at approximately 12.15pm.

A spokesman described visibility as "very poor with low clouds, mist and fog" at the time.
