Man (66) killed after motorbike collides with car carrying three children

A man has died in Co Sligo after his motorbike collided with a car carrying a woman and three children.

The incident happened on the N15 Sligo to Donegal Road at around 4pm on Thursday.

The motorcyclist (66) was pronounced dead at the scene and he was taken to Sligo University Hospital.

The woman who was driving the car suffered minor injuries. Three children travelling in the car with her were uninjured.

Gardaí closed the road for a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.

It is expected to remain closed until lunchtime on Friday.
