Man (64) dies in caravan fire overnight

A 64-year-old man has died following a fire in a caravan.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 1.15am this morning to the incident on Cloone Road, Ferrybank in Co Kilkenny.

The body of the man was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.

It is understood the man was staying in the caravan while his house was being renovated.

Gardai confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

The scene remains sealed off for a technical examination to be carried out.
