Man (31) seriously injured after he was attacked by group of men

A 31-year-old man has been seriously injured in a callous early morning attack in Dublin city.

The young man and his male friend were attacked by a gang of men on Captains Road in Crumlin at around 1.30am.

The man was taken to St James Hospital where he is understood to be in a serious condition.

It is understood the man's injuries include extensive injuries to his face.

The second man was not seriously injured in the incident.

After the incident the group of men are believed to have fled the scene on foot in the direction of Armagh Road/Windmill Road.

Gardai arrested a man, aged in his mid 20s, in connection with this investigation, this afterrnoon.

He is currently detained at Crumlin Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
