Man (30s) dies after being struck by bin truck in Dublin

A MAN (30s) has died after being struck by a bin truck in south Dublin this afternoon.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in Oldbawn in Tallaght, where he was struck during the course of his work.

His body was removed for a post-mortem examination which is due to take place at a later date.

The road at Dún An Óir, Oldbawn in Tallaght remains closed to facilitate forensic collision investigators who are currently examining the scene.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and local Coroner have been notified.

"A male in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a refuse lorry during the course of his work. He was removed for post-mortem which is scheduled to take place at a later date," a garda spokesperson said.

“Gardaí at Tallaght are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to them."
