Man (30) shot in leg in Drogheda

A MAN was shot in the leg in Drogheda town tonight.

It is believed that the injured man managed to make his way to a nearby shop on the Donore Road after the shooting, where he raised the alarm.

The emergency services were alerted that the man had been shot at around 9.30pm. Gardai and the ambulance services arrived quickly on the scene to aid the man.

The man was shot in one leg in the incident which occurred in close proximity to the bus depot on the Donore Road.

The injured man was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

He was describedas being in a stable condition.

The injured man, who is aged 30, is understood to be living locally.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident. They are appealing that anybody who can assist with the investigation should contact Drogheda gardai at (041) 987 4200.
