Man (25) found dead by uncle

GARDAI are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man whose body was found by his uncle in the house they were sharing.

The dead man was discovered in a bedroom in the house at Ballinlough, Co Roscommon, at around 2pm on Tuesday, and was then removed to Galway University Hospital for post-mortem examination.

No winner of Lotto jackpot

There was no winner of the jackpot in last night's midweek Lotto draw worth €2.5m. The numbers drawn were 6, 12, 18, 34, 42, 44 and the bonus number was 17.

Meanwhile, in the Lotto Plus One draw, there was also no winner of the €350,000 main prize. The numbers drawn there were 3, 5, 6, 12, 26, 45 and the bonus number was 15. In Lotto Plus Two, the €250,000 top prize was also without a winner. The numbers were 15, 23, 25, 28, 30, 38 and the bonus number was 45.

Raiders target empty houses

Gardai are searching for a gang who have escaped with more than €100,000 worth of equipment from unoccupied houses in an estate.

Thousands of euro worth of damage has also been caused to the houses that were built by Galway City Council. The thieves broke into the boarded-up houses at the Sliabh Bhan estate in Ballybane on the east of Galway city and in particular targeted copper water boilers for solar heating systems in the raids.

Driver charged over two deaths

A YOUNG man was yesterday charged at Cork District Court with dangerous driving last May, causing the death of two teenage passengers.

James Simms (27), of St Luke's Avenue, Wellington Road, Cork, was refused bail and remanded to appear again before Cork District Court on August 18. He is charged with causing the deaths of two teenage passengers at Harbourview Road, Knocknaheeny, Cork, on May 14.
