A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run in Dublin.

The man was arrested in Virginia, Co Cavan this afternoon and he was taken to Finglas garda station for questioning.

A garda hunt was launched in north Dublin yesterday after a suspect fled the scene of a botched robbery on foot.

The incident happened just before 11am yesterday at Kilshane Cross which is located between Finglas and Dublin Airport.

Sources say a van was making a delivery when a man approached in a car and attempted to take tools from the vehicle while the driver and his co-worker were away from it.

But they raised the alarm after seeing him. The suspect is understood to have gotten back into his car and drove away at speed in a panic.
