Man, 21, shot dead in Dublin house
A 21-year-old man has been shot dead at a house in west Dublin.
The gun attack happened in Fortlawn Park in Blanchardstown, at around 4am.
Two men - aged 18 and 23 - were arrested and are being held at Finglas Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The victim's body remained at the scene and the state pathologist was called in.
Gardai do not believe the killing is linked to the capital's bloody gangland underworld.
The dead man lived in the house and it is understood the three were friends. There was nobody else in the property at the time. Detectives found a gun at the scene.
Local Socialist Party councillor Matthew Waine extended his sympathy to the victim's family.
"This is a regular enough occurrence in some of the more neglected areas of the city but it really is shocking," he said.
"The Fortlawn area has suffered from anti-social behaviour but there's a very good community spirit and heart in it.
"It's the communities and the families that are left to pick up the pieces at times like this."
