Man (20s) fighting for life after Kilkenny stabbing named locally

A man who is in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed in Kilkenny yesterday evening has been named locally as Jamie Hennessy.

Gardai in the county have appealed for witnesses to come forward after the attack.

Emergency services were called to the scene at a house on Love Lane in Castlecomer.

On arrival gardai discovered Mr Hennessy (22) on the street with stab injuries.

He was brought by ambulance to St Luke’s Hospital where he is described as being in a critical condition.

Three men, two in their 30s and one in his 40s, were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Kilkenny Garda Station.

The scene has been preserved overnight for a technical examination.

A Garda spokesperson said they wish to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the Love Lane area of Castlecomer this evening between 5pm and 7pm to contact them.
