MALE accountants in Ireland are paid almost €20,000 more than their female counterparts.

The average salary for a male accountant in Ireland is €67,757, compared with average female pay of €48,376.

This gap has increased by €2,610 in the space of just a year, as the 3.1pc pay rises given to women in 2013 were just half of those achieved by men (6.4pc).
