COMEDIAN Dara O Briain proved he had the perfect formula to tickle people's interest in science as he launched of a 10-day festival in the capital yesterday.

'Science in the City' will take place at Dublin's Convention Centre from today until July 15.

It will celebrate Ireland's hosting of Europe's largest science event, the Euroscience Open Forum, which runs from July 11-15.

The festival itself will feature more than 60 science-themed events, most of which will be free.

The programme includes art exhibitions, film festivals, treasure hunts, experiments and workshops.

The Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, meanwhile, will be the venue for the 'Leaf Watch Trail', which will focus on seasonal changes in the lives of plants and animals.
