Emergency services attended the scene of a multi-vehicle collision this morning after a number of cattle broke out onto the M3.

The M3 was closed for almost three hours in both directions.

The road has since reopened but there is a 12km tailback on the diversion route on the Old Dublin Rd (R147) at Dunshaughlin.

No injuries were reported.

Also in Meath, there was a crash earlier this morning on the Trim/Dublin Rd (R154) on the Dublin side of Kiltale near Batterjohn Cross.

Gardaí have since cleared the scene and traffic is moving freely.

Meanwhile, in Dublin, emergency services are dealing with an incident just off Bolton St.

Dublin Fire Brigade are reporting a gas leak in the area.

Traffic delays are expected with motorists being advised to approach with caution.

There are reports that traffic lights are out of action at the junction of Phibsborough Rd/Connaught St.

Earlier this morning, the same road was blocked just after Doyle's Corner due to a collision.

The accident has since been cleared.
