The M1 motorway will remain closed in both directions near Drogheda until approximately 1am this morning following an accident involving a lorry.

The southbound lorry or parts from it is understood to have crossed over to the northbound lane of the motorway just past the toll bridge.

Both directions of the motorway between the Junction 10 exit for Drogheda North and the Junction 11 exit for Monasterboice have been closed following the accident around 8pm last night.

There were no fatalities and it doesn’t appear that the driver of the lorry or other motorists were seriously injured.
