Lucky punter turns 25c into €8k with 'freak' EuroMillions bet

A punter who placed a 25 cent stake with a bookmaker is now over €8,000 richer thanks to EuroMillions.

The person, who wishes to remain anonymous, bet 25 cent on four numbers - 8, 12, 16 and 22.

Defying odds of 33,000/1, they secured a return of €8,250.25 in Tuesday's draw.

The bet was placed with Boylesports and a spokeswoman said the win shows that you "don't have to break the bank to win big."

Earlier this week five separate winners collected almost €900,000 in EuroMillions prizes.

A delighted family from Co Carlow were the biggest winners as they scooped an incredible €500,000.

They netted the top EuroMillions Plus top prize on St Patrick's Day and bought their Quick Pick ticket at O'Reilly's Stores in Moffat Street in Hacketstown, Co Carlow.

Another punter from Co Derry collected their cheque for €250,000 on Monday.

While a mother and son syndicate who are €96,433 richer thanks to the EuroMillions Match 5 + Lucky Star on Tuesday night.

The generous mum gave her son lunch money that day and he picked up their golden ticket at Applegreen Service Station on North Street in Swords, Co. Dublin.
