Lucky dogs get the star treatment

Actress Amy Huberman (above left) and model Rosanna Davison (right) were given paws for thought yesterday when they attended separate photocalls to prove that man's best friend (and women's, too) is still top dog in our affections.

Marc O'Sullivan's photograph shows Amy Huberman cuddling up to newly named puppies 'Amy and Brian' at the official opening of the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Finglas, Dublin, yesterday. The centre can look after 150 dogs and puppies.

Meanwhile, photographer Iain White caught dog lover Rosanna Davison getting to know pedigree St Bernard, Alfie, on Sandymount Strand in Dublin.

Alfie, who is owned by Aidan Timmons from Clarina, Co Limerick, is one of 10 pedigree dogs in a nationwide competition to find canine stars to feature on the National Lottery's newest scratch card competition, 'Lucky Dog'.
