Luas drivers serve notice of further four days of strike action

LUAS drivers will go on strike for a further four days in April.

It even after talks broke down at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) on Monday.

The drivers had reduced their pay claim from 53pc over five years to 27pc over five years, however SIPTU, the union representing the drivers said that the company refused to continue discussions. 

The company Transdev was served notice at around 1pm today of further strike to take place on Sunday April 3 and Monday April 4, and on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23 and April24.

Previous plans to strike on St Patrick’s Day and the Easter bank holiday weekend are also still in place.

Kieran Mulvey, director general of the WRC, said that there was still time resolve the issue and to avoid all-out strikes.
