Lovelorn TD enlists help of matchmaker
THEY all want to be loved, but apparently one wants it a lot more than the other 165.
A leading matchmaker has claimed she has a lonely hearted TD searching for a soulmate on her books.
The "middle-aged" man – no surprise there – contacted Avril Mulcahy, who calls herself the 'Modern Matchmaker" around Christmas.
Ms Mulcahy, who is based on Upper Mount Street, just a stone's throw away from Leinster House, charges €395 for three matches, and our lonely TD is on his last strike.
His request to Ms Mulcahy, who went on RTE's 'Liveline' yesterday, was for an "attractive, professional, feminine" woman who is looking for a long-term relationship.
The two blind dates in Dublin restaurants Peploes and Hugo's went well, but not well enough for Deputy Lonesome.
For confidentiality reasons, Ms Mulcahy declined to say what party the TD is in or where in the country he's from – or if he's a minister – but she insists he has to get more balance in his life.
"He has an awfully busy schedule, he has cancelled a number of dates so far," she said.
There's one solution to that, now that the weather's fine.
How about a spot of canvassing on a fine summer's eve? If she survives that, Deputy Lonesome could quite easily become Deputy Lovestruck.
