Louth scores a hat-trick with yet another big Lotto prize win
LOUTH could just be the luckiest county in Ireland after it sold a third multi-million euro Lotto ticket in under a year.
In the last year alone, shops in Louth have sold three jackpot tickets worth a combined €11m.
"It is nearly 10 years since we sold our last winning ticket on September 20, 2003," said Jerome Sheerin, owner of the Beehive newsagent, Dundalk. His shop sold the winning €6 quick pick which claimed the €3,984,812 jackpot in Wednesday night's draw.
"Whoever it is, and we have a large passing trade as well as our loyal local customers, I hope they have good luck with it," said Jerome yesterday.
He and wife Catherine have run the family shop for 30 years.
Last April the ticket for a €3,595,558 jackpot was bought by Simon Fagan, from Castlebellingham, and last November Gerry Bingham, from Dundalk, won €3,595,140.
