The search is on for Ireland's latest EuroMillions winner after a ticket sold here won the entire jackpot worth €88.6m.

Such was the level of frenzy after the win was announced at 9pm that the National Lottery's EuroMillions website crashed for a time last night.

The winning numbers drawn were: 1, 5, 7, 17, 23 and lucky stars 3 and 8.

The win is the third-largest jackpot won in Ireland and the 10th time that an Irish ticketholder has won the top EuroMillions prize since 2004.

Officials from the National Lottery could not say where the ticket was sold, or if it was an individual or syndicate winner.

However, the win was confirmed on the National Lottery website, in which the winning ticket for the €88,587,275 jackpot from last night's draw was listed as being sold in Ireland.

The massive win, however, is less than the €115m haul that former cleaner Dolores McNamara, from Limerick, walked away with in 2005.

Her stroke of luck made her one of the richest people in Ireland.
