Lotto luck for airport newcomer in €6m win

A NEWCOMER to the Dublin Airport lottery syndicate that scooped a massive €6.4m jackpot only joined the group three months ago.

The syndicate, who do not want to be identified, has been playing the lottery together for three years.

But it emerged that one winner has extra reason to smile, having only recently joined.

The 17-member group wasted no time in collecting their winnings as they made a jubilant journey from the airport into the city centre to the National Lottery headquarters yesterday.

The nine women and eight men won €378,000 each after their numbers came up in Saturday night's draw.

Asked what they intend to do with their newfound wealth, one of the group said: "Paying off the bills and mortgages – and there are even some wedding plans on the cards.

"It's just great news – the perfect start to a Monday morning," they added.

It is believed that the 17 winners work in different areas of the airport.

The winning ticket was bought in the Spar shop in the arrivals hall of Terminal One on February 6 and was a €112 multi-draw purchase valid for eight draws.
