Lotto jackpot of €3.1m rolls over

THERE was no winner of the midweek Lotto draw for a jackpot of €3,121,399. The numbers were 4, 6, 26, 29, 33 and 40. The bonus was 41.

A ticket sold in the north-east won the top €350,000 prize in the Lotto Plus 1. The numbers were 2, 22, 23, 25, 29 and 44. The bonus was 11. There was no winner of the top €250,000 prize in the Lotto Plus 2. The numbers were 10, 19, 24, 27, 29 and 34. The bonus was 41.

TWO armed and masked raiders escaped with an estimated €100,000 last night after holding up a cash delivery van in Cork.

The raid occurred shortly after 4.20pm as the Group 4 Securicor van was making a delivery to a cash machine by a busy Maxol filling station on Carr's Hill in Carrigaline.

CRIMINALS left a trailer containing 46,000 litres of toxic sludge by the side of a motorway in Co Louth.

The waste is the by-product of the illegal washing of agricultural diesel and was found metres from the Border on the M1.

TWO gardai were taken to hospital yesterday after their patrol car crashed. They were escorting a cash-in-transit van when their car left the road and hit a ditch at Kiltartan, near Gort, Co Galway.

No other vehicle was involved and both men were removed to Galway University Hospital.

Armed gardai arrested two men and found a revolver in a routine check of a car yesterday.

Members of the Regional Response Unit stopped the car at Ballincurra Weston, Limerick, at 4pm. The men, aged 44 and 45, were still being held last night at Henry Street and Roxoboro Road stations.
