Lotto jackpot heading for €4m

THE Lotto jackpot is heading for €4m after last night's draw failed to produce a winner. The numbers were 12, 20, 25, 27, 32 and 42. The bonus was 2.

There was no winner of the €350,000 prize in the LottoPlus1. The numbers were 3, 12, 27, 32, 34 and 38. The bonus was 36. Two won the top €250,000 prize in the LottoPlus2. The numbers were 7, 18, 19, 25, 29 and 39. The bonus was 17.

Independents get proposals passed

The Government was dealt another embarrassing blow last night when it lost a vote in the Seanad.

Proposals from a group of independent senators for Seanad reform were carried by the opposition when the coalition was defeated by 28 votes to 27. The opposition side benefited from a reduction in the Government numbers.

Army dispose of unsafe chemicals

unstable chemicals were made safe at Teagasc headquarters yesterday. An Army bomb disposal team went to Teagasc at Oak Park in Carlow town following a call from gardai.

A spokesman said: "A quantity of picric acid, which was deemed to be in an unstable condition, was removed to a safe location. The acid was subsequently disposed of."

Three released in murder probe

THREE men being questioned by gardai investigating the murder of Stephen Hanaphy last week have been released without charge.

The 20-year-old victim was shot in Ardee, Co Louth, last Friday night. He was from Coolock, Dublin. A file will be prepared for the DPP.
