Losing her job was the Ki to Pauline's success

BEING made redundant can sometimes be a blessing, Pauline McDermott believes.

When the downturn came in the construction business, Pauline was let go from the estate agents where she worked and where she had been very happy.

But losing her job provided the spur she needed to go out on her own.

For years Pauline had studied alternative therapies including Shiatsu, bio-energy and hypnotherapy, as a hobby and as a means, perhaps, to making a little money on a part-time basis.

But now she has gone into the business full-time in Terenure in a beautiful old cottage along the Rathfarnham Road.

Ki means Energy in Japanese and she has called her business the Ki for Life Centre in Terenure.

Complimentary treatments she offers include bio-energy, Shiatsu, Platinum Detox and hypnotherapy.

It has proved to be very successful so far.Her message is that being let go is not the end of the world, and she is now using her experience to assist clients who may be facing this transition period.

You can find Pauline and Ki for Life at Tramway Cottage, 19 Rathfarnham Road, Terenure, Dublin 6. Phone: (01) 4067675.
