'Lonely Planet' guru will visit travel writer festival

Eimear Ni Bhraonain

IT's a lonely world out there but the co-founder of a top international travel guide is looking forward to visiting Ireland next month.

The tenth Immrama Festival of Travel Writing has attracted the co-founder of the 'Lonely Planet' guide, Tony Wheeler, for a visit to Lismore, Co Waterford this June for the festival, which runs from June 7 to June 10.

Mr Wheeler, whose wife is Irish, said: "My wife is from Belfast so I have a Co Antrim connection and I always enjoy a visit to Ireland -- it is a great place to travel around."

However, Mr Wheeler's guide wasn't so flattering in a review of the small cathedral city of Armagh earlier this year.

The book said the town was a "bit dreary" with a "run-down feel to it".
