Local horse brings home spoils

IT'S the biggest event of the three-day Dingle Races festival -- but it has never been won by a local horse, writes John O'Mahony.

That all changed yesterday when 'Your Ma', owned by local restaurateur Gary Boyle, won the two-mile Dawn Milk Chase in a thrilling climax at the scenic Ballintaggart track. Close to 200 horses competed in 20 races for a share of a €40,000 prize fund.

Our pictures show Paul Lecky on 'Thanks A Lot' winning the opening race yesterday and, above, Claire Stringer, from Navan, Co Meath, with her daughter Isabelle.
