Lithuanian driver dies as his car smashes into wall

A Lithuanian man was killed yesterday when his car left the road and slammed into a wall.

The crash happened at 4pm on the Trim Road, nearly 2km outside the village of Ballivor, Co Meath.

It is understood the victim, who was in his late 30s, was alone in the car.

No other vehicles were involved in the deadly crash.

Gardai were last night trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Locals said the victim was a Lithuanian national who worked in the area.

Some 125 people have been killed on the roads so far this year.
