lily-mae makes a splash

SHE may be undergoing intensive treatment for a rare form of cancer, but that didn't stop 'Tiny Dancer' Lily-Mae Morrison enjoying a trip to the seaside.

The five-year-old, right, will return today to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin for the next stage of a six-month immunotherapy programme.

But that was the last thing on her mind as she splashed in the sea on a family trip to Salthill, Galway.

Her mother, Judith Sibley, said: "Lily-Mae is like any other child her age and loves the beach.

"But because of her condition, we've got to take extra precautions to keep her out of the sun, so she wears special clothing to protect her from harmful rays and we go to the beach early in the morning when it's not as hot.

"It's a memory we will cherish, because we have so few opportunities to do things like this as Lily-Mae spends so much time in hospital."

Ms Sibley said future fundraising efforts are now more vital than ever to cover the huge costs of Lily-Mae's future treatment abroad.
