Libyan pupils will sit papers in Malta centre

A SPECIAL Leaving Cert exam centre is being set up in Malta for pupils at the International School of the Martyrs (ISM) in Tripoli, Libya.

The tradition of ISM pupils sitting the exam goes back to the early 1990s, but the political upheaval in Libya since 2011 has made it impossible to host the exams there. Last year, 34 candidates travelled to Malta to sit their exams, while one came to Ireland.

This year, 62 Libya-based candidates plan to take the exam.
