Wrap up warm and bring out the hot chocolates.

This weekend is about to get very cold with snow expected to fall in Ulster and north Connacht and on higher ground elsewhere, Met Eireann says.

Tomorrow night, wintry showers will fall and a blustery northwest to north breeze will bring temperatures down to around zero.

Sharp frost will also appear and there will be a danger of icy patches on roads, forecasters warn.

Saturday will be a cold and breezy day, with some more snow falling in the north.

In the west, some showery rain or sleet will develop there during the day.

Saturday night will also be cold with frost developing and becoming sharp or severe in some midland and eastern areas.

Sunday will also be a cold, bright day with lighter northerly breezes.

Many places will be dry but a few coastal showers are likely in parts of the north and east.
