CORK has staked its claim to being the country's luckiest county after yet another Lotto triumph.
Cork now boasts more Lotto millionaires per capita than anywhere else in Ireland -- and scooped yet another €1m Lotto prize in the New Year's Eve Millionaire raffle.
The winning ticket was sold in CityWest Newsagents in Ballincollig -- with the Cork town having delivered a Lotto jackpot winner a fortnight earlier.
The city and county has now won a whopping €35m in Lotto jackpots in 2010 -- with eight millionaires created in Cork in the space of just nine months.
The second-last win came on Christmas Eve, when a €3m jackpot was won with a ticket sold in Camier's Garage in the west Cork village of Ballydehob.
A young couple won the jackpot but have decided to remain anonymous.
They only discovered their good fortune on December 29 -- and have since collected their winnings.
The couple have a young family and vowed not to let the money overly change their lives.
"It is amazing to be millions richer than we were before Christmas. We plan to keep things steady and I will continue working because I really like what I do," the winner said.
"But it is great not to have to worry about the day-to-day stuff."
Just one week earlier, a €5.8m jackpot was won courtesy of a multi-draw ticket purchased at Eason in the Ballincollig shopping centre.
