Latest Lotto millionaire has no intention of quitting game

David Whelan

A lucky Lotto winner who became an instant millionaire doesn't believe that she has used up all her luck yet, and plans to continue to buy her usual lottery tickets.

The woman, who claimed €1.3m yesterday, said that she had already purchased her ticket for the next Monday Millions and Lotto draws for the coming week and said that she "might be coming back" to claim another jackpot.

The Meath winner, who did not wish to be identified, claimed half the share of Saturday's Lotto jackpot with a €6 Quick Pick ticket.

The other half of the jackpot, won by a punter in Dublin, has still not been collected.

"I was in total shock when I realised I had won. I still am," she said.

"We must have checked the ticket 100 times just to be certain I had won."

The winning ticket was sold at the Applegreen store in Rath, Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Manager of the shop Keith Dennis said that although every second customer was enquiring about the winner, they still had no idea who it was.

"Everyone is a little bit excited, it's great for the shop and for the community.

"There were five of us working here on Saturday and we know that one of us handed over the ticket that changed this lady's life.

"We hope that she visits and most importantly continues to shop here," he said.

After claiming her prize she said that some of the money would be spent on "paying off a few debts, going on a nice holiday and possibly upgrading the car"

The numbers which scooped the woman her jackpot share were 9, 21, 26, 31, 39 and 42. The bonus number was 5.

Meanwhile, this Friday's EuroMillions jackpot is expected to reach €45m.
