A LABOUR TD was left red-faced last night after Miriam O’Callaghan read out his joke tweet live on air during a Prime Time item about the new Ireland managerial team.

Aodhan O Riordain used the Prime Time hashtag #rtept during a jokey Twitter conversation with comedy writer Colm Toibin, which brought it to the attention of the RTE current-affairs show team.

The tweet read: “We're having a referendum on the O'Neill-Keane marriage in 2015......I'm pretty sure that's what I heard today.......#rtept

During an interview with Eamon Dunphy and Ray Houghton, O’Callaghan read out the public message from the TD without comment.

O Riordain reacted with disbelief when he realised what had happened, telling his 6,000 followers: “AHHHHHHHHHHH......that tweet was meant for @colmtobin.....not the nation....#morto #rtept”
