Killer Macarthur enjoys another day out
ONE of the country's most notorious murderers enjoyed a walk in sunny Dublin yesterday morning as lawmakers made their way to work in Leinster House.
Malcolm Macarthur has been allowed out on day release in recent weeks as part of efforts to re-integrate him into society, and yesterday he was spotted enjoying a stroll outside Dail Eireann.
The 65-year-old sauntered up Kildare Street, where he was spotted by photographers.
Wary of the attention, he turned on his heel outside the National Museum and made his way to Nassau Street where he boarded a bus.
The killer has served almost 29 years in prison after being convicted of the murder of nurse Bridie Gargan in 1981. This is his eighth release from the open centre at Shelton Abbey in Co Wicklow.
