Kickstart for life-saving fundraiser
A WOMAN devastated by the loss of her twin brother to sudden adult death syndrome (SADS) has embarked on a major fundraising venture to help save other lives.
Niamh Cloak (37) lost her football-mad twin Ger suddenly at the age of 27 when he dropped dead minutes after leaving a doctor's office. Ms Cloak said their shocked family have since learned that the undetected heart defect could have been picked up by specific tests.
Ms Cloak – along with her twin Ger's many friends at St John Bosco Football Club in Drimnagh, Dublin, – organised a penalty competition with FAI chief John Delaney at the Iveagh Grounds on Crumlin Road on Saturday to raise money and highlight the vital screening work carried out by CRY.
