Joy for unemployed man who wins €500k

DUBLINERS are celebrating following their dramatic win over Kerry at the All-Ireland semi-final.

But one Dublin man has reason to smile more than most.

The unemployed man scooped a jackpot worth half a million euro over the weekend.

And after watching the Boys in Blue power themselves ahead to their second All-Ireland final in two years, the happiest man in Dublin collected his cheque at Lotto HQ this morning.

He won the top prize from last Saturday night’s Daily Million Plus draw.

The lucky winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he couldn’t sleep the whole weekend after the shock of his big win.

“Yesterday was the longest Sunday of my life. I just couldn’t sleep. I was so excited and still cannot believe I’ve won,” he said.

The winner said he is a regular Daily Million game player and bought his ticket on Saturday in Crumlin Shopping Centre as a €1.50 Quick Pick.

Not surprisingly, this man’s got a plan.

“I’d like to buy an apartment and go on holiday somewhere hot. I’ll put the rest in the bank.”

He added that he would be celebrating his big win tonight.

The Daily Million draw takes place every day and for €1 per line, players choose six numbers from 1 to 39 for the chance to win a top prize of €1 million.

For an extra 50c, players can win up to €500,000 like this morning’s lucky winner.

One third of all sales from National Lottery games go to funding beneficiary projects around the country.

In 2012, the National Lottery raised over €225 million for various causes spanning over sports, art, health, welfare and national heritage.
