Johnny Sexton’s wife Laura gives birth to a baby girl
Johnny Sexton’s wife Laura has given birth to a baby girl.
Little Amy Sexton arrived yesterday, one day after Ireland’s battle with Wales, in a Dublin maternity hospital.
A source close to the couple says little Amy is in perfect health, and both mother and baby are doing well.
Ireland kicking coach Richie Murphy broke the news of Sexton's baby joy at a press conference today.
“Very happy obviously because his wife had a baby girl yesterday.”
Johnny returned to the Ireland training camp yesterday evening after the birth of his daughter.
“We’re hoping that he’ll be fine for the weekend," Murphy said. “His shoulder area, he’s a little bit stiff and sore.”
Little Amy is the couple's second child. Their son Luca is aged 19 months.
The couple are childhood sweethearts and they wed at Adare Manor in July 2013, 10 years after they first met as teenagers.
The former St Mary's rugby player returned from a two-year spell with Racing Metro in France to rejoin his Leinster team-mates this season.
Sexton made his comeback after suffering a disappointing injury during the Rugby World Cup in Ireland's game against France.
