Jill home town sends thanks to Melbourne
THE mayor of Drogheda, Co Louth, has written to his counterpart in Melbourne to thank the city for its show of support following the murder of Jill Meagher.
Labour councillor Paul Bell wrote to Lord Mayor Robert Doyle to offer his "sincerest gratitude to you for your support, prayers and condolences in response to the death in tragic circumstances of our beloved citizen, Jill Meagher".
Cllr Bell said the episode had united the Irish town with the Victorian capital.
Radio worker Ms Meagher (29) disappeared after a night out with colleagues from broadcaster ABC on September 22. Her body was found in a shallow grave almost a week later.
