A MASSIVE new rugby attraction in Limerick backed by JP McManus and Paul O'Connell is to become even bigger.

Management behind the €10m International Rugby Experience in the city are seeking planning permission for a further extension. It comes as a jeweller is to close up shop after 110 years trading to make way for the development.

Up until now, the museum would have been built around Fine's jeweller but now it will become part of Rugby World Experience.

Fine's Jewellers have this week commenced a half-price closing down/retirement sale.

The multi-million euro proposals will see the demolition of numbers 40 and 41 O'Connell Street as well as the knocking of the first three floors at the neighbouring building.

Number one Cecil Street will also be demolished to make way for the development.
